What we promise is what we strive to deliver. No excuses, no equivocation and no shortcuts.

First, and most important, is safety. Meeting international safety standards does not mean sticking a couple of life-rings on the back of the boat.

  • On top of the Gilicat canopy are four large cylinder which each contain a 10 man life-raft complete with rations, water, etc. This life-raft has a hydrostatic release which means if the boat sinks, the life-raft pops to the surface and automatically inflates.
  • We have two life-rings on either side of the boat which are intended for man-over-board situations. Attached to the life-rings are two submersible beacons which can be activated in night time situations.
  • There is a SOLAS approved life vest for each and every passenger and crew, including four specifically for children. SOLAS approved means an international standard that has a flotation device around the neck to keep the head out of the water if the person is unconscious. Each life vest has a whistle and fluorescent strips.
  • As with airlines, we provide a safety briefing before each departure.
  • This is all part of ISM, international safety management code, which Gilicat has certification for. This certification is renewed every six months.
  • Gilicat has an EPIRB, electronic positioning device which is automatically activated when in the water. The EPIRB broadcasts a continuous signal to a channel which is monitored by satellite 24 hours a day.
  • Gilicat has a ship-to-shore radio which is on a channel monitored by the harbormaster and water police.
  • Gilicat has a GPS positioning system, course plotter, radar and depth sounder.
  • Our crew are highly qualified and experienced.

Secondly, we strive to provide the most comfortable seats in the industry. Our custom designed stainless steel seats have 10 centimeters of 80% compressed sponge covered by the highest quality water-proof material available. You are not sitting on plastic bucket seats more suited to a bowling alley rather than a boat or hard fiberglass benches. The interior is fully enclosed in commercial grade all-weather aluminum. The numerous windows can be opened to allow fresh air and to cool you down. If inclement weather we close the windows to ensure our passengers are as dry as possible on a boat.

Third is reliability. As per our pledge, we have departed every scheduled day since beginning of operations in July 2007 with a 95% on-time departure rating. We have a regularly scheduled maintenance at least once a month and the boat does not travel on that day.. If we perchance do cancel, it will be due to inclement weather, and in compliance with harbormaster bans on travel
